Intel Q8400 reviewed
Intel's answer to the price drop on the Phenom II 940 was this new Q8400, a 2.66GHz quad-core with 4MB of L2 cache. Intel is loosing the competitive muscle it acquired since the launch of the Core 2 back in the summer of 2006.
Since the launch of the Core 2, Intel had been putting a huge amount of pressure on AMD, performance, price, everything. And everytime AMD cut some prices, Intel unusually also did so. It cut prices and maintained a considerable performance advantage dolar to dolar, with the only exception being below $100, IIRC. Well, until now.
Intel has released a CPU that is not only priced the same but it's overall not as powerful at stock clocks. What's up blue? Has the crisis also taken it's toll?

Actually, the Q8400 had VT and had it from the beginning. In fact, at around the same time, Intel announced that they are going to add VT support to Q8300 and four other chips, but you will have to wait a month or so to get the new versions:

Thanks, you're absolutely right. That should teach me to always double check everything, even from Anandtech.
