The new GPU is built using a 65nm process, supports DirectX 10.1, PCI-Express 2.0 and the ChromotionHD 2.0 engine. Nothing more is known about the card, but it will, possibly, run the core at more than 700MHz - the speed used in the Chrome S27 card, that was built at 90nm. Low power consumption is also something to expect, since the old card used around 24W in load, despite the high core clockspeed and 8 pixel shader units.
A new graphics card line was something I had speculated earlier, due to the release of the Multichrome technology, which needs new, more powerful, graphics cards so it can have some impact on the current market.
S3 can sometimes build interesting cards which, unfortunately, are generally plagued by bad drivers. The Savage line of chips were very competitive and managed to grab a nice bite of the market share when they were launched, but the company eventually lost the ability to compete with Nvidia, which, back then, was becoming the current giant it is today.
The new cards are expected to be launched by the end of the month, until then more information should be released.
