The USB 3.0 dawn nears closer
Looks pretty simple but it costs 150 dollars.
The card on picture is manufactured by Nec and is PCI-e x1 compatible - good for 250MB/s in the 1.0 spec or 500MB/s for PCI-e 2.0 - of an unknown version, presumably the 2.0 spec. USB 3.0 can handle speeds up to 5Gbps, or around 600MB/s, a small stretch from what PCI-e 2.0 x1 can deliver.
The standard is compatible with previous 1.0 and 2.0 specs and you can have a look at the ingenious plugs in this older post.
