Nvidia 790i Ultra overclocking and performance hints

How does 2400MHz+ FSB sound like?

The 790i Ultra marks Nvidia's comeback to the high-end chipset market, bringing also SLI support and
1600MHz FSB CPUs, together, to the Intel platform. It is also the first DDR3 chipset from the company and, for now, it seems to also deliver on that front - as overclocking screenshots show.

World renowned overclockers Fugger and Kingpin both have sample boards of the 790i Ultra and posted some results on the XtremeSystems Forums.

The above screenshot shows FSB overclocking of above 450MHz with a quad-core and although stability hasn't been disclosed yet, the performance available with the new chipset is exciting.
With dual-core 45nm processors things get even better and Fugger posted a screenshot at 615MHz QDR or 2460MHz:

The clock-for-clock performance is also quoted better than with the 780i chipset and this result was obtained with only 1.45v. Take Anandtech's look at X38 overclocking for comparison on required voltages - 1.6v for 500, unstable, although with tRD tweaked.

The chipset is still under embargo but more data should be available by next week, with the advent of CeBit.
