CrossfireX details leaked - Only on Vista

It will come in March, with the release of the Catalyst 8.03 driver, and will be limited to Vista only, XP users will only get dual-card Crossfire support. This might change after SP3 for XP is available for a while, but nothing is certain as of now, whether we like it or not, the future goes through Vista.

The new driver will allow for cards with different clock speeds to be mixed together and will even allow for an HD3870X2 to work with one HD3870, to deliver triple-Crossfire. Two HD3870X2's will get you a quad, as will four HD 38x0 cards. This kind of flexibility will be a real advantage for ATI, because it is something very important to provide Crossfire as a viable upgrade method.
