HKEPC has got the details on the release of two new Celeron processors, which are now dual-core.
As far as I know these are just Allendalle cores with only 512KB of L2 cache enabled, half of what the Pentium E2000 family packs. TDP is the same as the big brothers - 65W.
Performance of the E2000 family is not good, and this will be worse, but to make up for it they will both be priced even lower, at around $50.
This price puts them head on with AMD's single-core CPUs. AMD will probably answer with price reductions on their dual-cores. If not, it will be left alone to ravage this market segment from AMD.
These will be considerably slower than the E2000 series - not really CPUs for the enthusiast.
I still prefer AMD CPUs over these, like I would over the Pentium E2000. AMD currently offers better performance and features in the sub-$100 market, even when stepping into Core 2 Duo E4000 territory. We would have to completely disregard overclocking though.
The E1200 is expected to see release in the 20th of this month while the E1400 will be released in the second quarter.
