Acer's Gateway brand releases Athlon 64 L110 netbook

Taking on Atom with 1.2GHz and 64 bit capabilities.

Gateway's LT3103u is the first "netbook" that features a processor from AMD. The HP DV2 is not widely regarded as such due to it's high price of $699, while this LT3103u is available for $399.
The processor is similar to the Athlon Neo but clocked at 1.2GHz and offering around 2W less of power consumption, or 13W. The L2 cache is still of 512KB and the basis of the netbook is the "Yukon" platform, which uses the RS690 chipset delivering AMD Radeon X1270 graphics.
The screen is slightly bigger than most netbooks, at 11.6", with a highly capable 1366x768 resolution.
Both graphics and CPU are more capable than what Intel as to offer in this segment, especially in the graphics department. You'll also won't have to throw it away because of the inability to run 64 bit operating systems.
