AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition review

AMDZone has done an extensive test on this recently released CPU, which is, sadly, still based on B2 revision cores.
AMD would've been better holding it off until B3 cores are out, since the appeal of this CPU is pretty much null. Why buy a CPU you can overclock easily, but can't run stable at 100MHz more than the stock clock?
Maybe if you don't use any kind of virtualization software then you can use it reliably, but that's a big if nowadays.
One allocation of Cray servers that isn't using virtualization software is indeed running Barcelona without the TLB bug fix, but it's in a controlled environment. On top of that, AMD isn't giving any choice in turning off the fix in newer BIOS of some motherboards.
From reports on the web, these CPUs overclock well, some get to 3GHz easily, but when the fix is put in action, not even overclocking can save Phenom's performance loss.
Hold on to your wallets till the real deal comes out.
