After the 8800GT, Nvidia will be releasing a new G92 based card, this time with 96 shader processors, one ROP less and an 192-bit wide memory controller, down from 256-bit. This should come in the form of two memory chips less on the PCB instead of a redesign, entailing a memory size of 384MB; possibly the only variant, since 256MB is the minimum nowadays, leaving out the possibility of an 192MB card.
Even with these restrictions the card still performs well, the clocks are 575MHz for core, 1700MHz for memory and 1438MHz for the RAM, which are good for 9500 points in 3DMark 2006. If priced accordingly, this will become another performance-mainstream champion, like it's big brother.
Launch is expected in February and it should be only a placeholder until the 9600GT arrives shortly after.
