The new G92 based 8800GTS was released on Tuesday and reviews started flooding the web.
The card delivers, as expected, though not with the excitement that the 8800GT provided.
It is a very good card for it's price, 50-75eur more get you performance equaling the 8800Ultra at resolutions till 1600x1200, without any filtering, even surpassing it in some games. Even with AA or AF turned on it doesn't loose by much and, taking triple-SLI of the equation, it obsoletes the Ultra. The extra overclocking ability of the G92 core helps clear up the mind of anyone left undecided between the two.
Because of this the 8800GTX is now priced about the same as the new card.
In the Anandtech review they also tested the 8800GT with 256MB and it clearly shows that it can't behave so well in newer games, like Crysis, reinforcing what we've observed before. It's not nearly as attractive as the 512MB version.
Availability of the 8800GTS 512MB around here is good, contrary to the 8800GT when it was launched, and pricing is 325eur for an XFX card. Browsing Overclockers.co.uk also shows availability at a lower 310eur.
