The previous news report was correct, the AMD Phenom II X4 965 is indeed coming, with a 3.4GHz and an 125W TDP.
The CPU has been spotted for sale at £178 or $289, although it will probably end up cheaper in the United States:

This processor is not expected to cause an inconvenience to Intel's Core i7, right now, but is a good demonstration of how aggressive AMD has become these days, as we've also seen with the introduction of the six-core Opteron sooner, than previously expected.
