Apple delivers serious battery life improvements

Apple has broken the 8 hour barrier for a battery powered laptop with the new Macbook Pro, in this case the 15" model, Anand reports.

It's a remarkable achievement and it seems that despite what I thought most of the time, you're actually now going pay for some tangible benefits other than looks and the back lit keyboard( and the legal way to run OS X), not just 35% margins for Apple.

While I still find the glass over the LCD screen something horrible from a usability standpoint, that's something up for debate and the closest notebook you could find that delivered such a long battery life was the Asus 1000HE, with an Atom CPU, not a Core 2 at two and a half gigahertz.
