Apple updates MacBooks with 'Penryn' CPUs, Anandtech dismantles it

Today apple announced the availability of the new 45nm "Penryn" Core 2 Duo processors in both the Macbook and the Macbook Pro.
Together with them came the multi-touch touchpad that was introduced with the Macbook Air, albeit only for the Pro model.

The Macbook now features processors ranging from 2.1GHz to 2.4 and the base model comes with 2GB, as does the Macbook Pro. The platform used is still the "Santa Rosa", which uses an 800MHz FSB.
Both models come with options up to the 250GB 5400RPM HDD and an option for a 7200RPM drive with 200GB, although only for the MacBook Pro, which also got an upgrade to the 8600M GT on the graphics side.

Battery life is now quoted at five hours for the Macbook Pro and 4.5 for the 17" Pro and the Macbook. I can assure you that they have improved both, in that camp, since the new CPUs consume less power and the battery capacity has remained the same - the increase in memory size of the 8600M GT won't mitigate this improvement.

Meanwhile at Anandtech, they dismantled the new Macbook Pro so we could take a look at it's innards.

Prices start at $1099 for the Macbook and $1999 for the 15.4" Macbook Pro.
