Techpowerup has reviewed the new HD3850 card from Diamond Multimedia, which features an in-house designed PCB, new cooler and 1ns memory, or 2GHz.The new cooler does it's job well and the card handles a very good overclock of 749/2124MHz speeds for core/memory, almost the stock speed of an HD3870. The performance is similar to HD3850 512MB cards, since it's not factory overclocked.
The only downside, that I can see, is the reduced amount of phases in the PWM module, down to three from five, in the reference design. That can negatively impact durability of the card and increase electrical noise but with less complex PCBs cheaper prices are attainable.
