Intel aiming to release ''Clarkdale'' sooner
Intel's "Clarkdale", which has already been demonstrated running earlier this year, will be released a quarter sooner.
The CPU, which combines a 32nm processor core and a 45nm iGFX graphics core, was planned for release in the first quarter of 2010. Intel has now unveiled that it plans to release the processor in the last trimester of this year, in a move to further put pressure in both AMD and Nvidia.
AMD has delayed it's "Fusion" processor and is not expected to debut it before Intel, although AMD will deliver a truly integrated solution and not an "hack" - the AMD solution will only feature one silicon die, similar to what Phenom II X4 was to the Core 2 Quad products, which was a dual die part from Intel.
Nvidia will be under some pressure upon the release, alas it is right now, since it has neither bus licences for either QPI nor the DMI interconnect that will be used to connect LGA 1156 CPUs, like Clarkdale, to the Platform Controller Hub(PCH) - which Intel will supply in the form of the P55. Intel will provide most graphics needs integrated right in the CPU, removing the option for a compatible chipset solution from Nvidia with integrated graphics.
