Scythe Ninja Copper reviewed

Keywords: Scythe Ninja Copper review
This is the new toy from Scythe, the copper Ninja. I had already detailed earlier that it could fail to live up to expectations and, unfortunately, so it did.
There is a strange flaw, which adds up to the already compromised design. It's not that the small heatsink would do anything useful anyway, but if they weren't planning on shipping the damn thing with some kind of thermal interface in there, better not to put it there at all. At least it could become cheaper.
The performance isn't completely bad, but it's not up to the cooler's price either.
I must disagree with my colleague's claim that the weight is not case for worry. It is dependent on the quality of the PCB and solder, and even the better ones may eventually exhibit failure after some time. That's just too much weight too be left hanging there. The Ultra-120 Extreme weighs more than 200g less and it performs better, for about the same price.

My verdict is to skip this one in favor of the Ultra-120 Extreme or of the Tuniq Tower. If you want something cheaper, you also have some very good coolers, like the Sonic Tower and Big Typhoon from Thermaltake. There are also good and cheap solutions from other companies but this one just doesn't cut the mustard.
