Asus P5N-D and Striker II Formula released

The two new boards from Asus that use the most recent chipsets for Intel processors from Nvidia, the 750i and 780i, have been officially released.

The Striker II Formula is built with the same features that made the original Striker known to the world of overclockers, while it adds PCI-Express 2.0 and a new heatpipe design, among other, more reserved, enhancements. Full specifications are available in Asus's site.
The Striker II Formula is still scarcely available, with a price of around 280eur.

The P5N-D is a based on the same concept that that made the P5N-E SLI a surprise when it debuted, while it also adds PCI-Express 2.0, the PCB has also been significantly revamped, including one more phase in the PWM module, bringing the total to four.
The board also features only solid capacitors, which is a noteworthy upgrade from the P5N-E SLI. Of some usefulness in the other board was the availability of two IDE ports but that now has been reduced to only one, while the number of SATA ports is still shy, at four. SLI is supported officially.
The price of the P5N-D is of around 125eur, same range as it's based 650i predecessor.

Both boards support the new dual and quad core 45nm CPUs.

My take is to skip them for other chipsets or to wait for Nvidia's real PCIe 2.0 chipsets, if you aren't in a hurry. The added NF200 chip does it's job, but at the expense of power consumption, cost, while other consequences are still possible - like limited overclockability.
