Art Lebedev Studio became famous for the Optimus Maximus keyboard, an extraordinary concept of keyboard that uses OLED screens instead of regular buttons, which allows for serious costumization of the keyboard's look and functionality. They gathered some controversy when the final price for the keyboard with all the 113 programmable keys was announced at $1564. Currently it suffered yet another delay and the first 400 batches to be delivered this month have shifted to February 2008.
Now they have announced a new concept of a touchscreen keyboard that would allow to even display videos and though that doesn't seem very useful in a keyboard, there are some very interesting applications for it; like the one they show on the picture with the color pallet - the possibilities are endless if the software can keep up with it.
This new concept uses an LCD panel instead of an OLED screen, although they need to use a high definition panel and the final layout is still subject to the size of the LCD screen they will be able to use.
This is a very exciting product, which would be even more thrilling if Art Lebedev could actually deliver their products on time.
Alike the Optimus Maximus, don't hold your breath for a product release anytime soon.
